SEPULTURA To Perform With J.B.O. At Germany's EARTHSHAKER FEST
March 22, 2007SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser checks in from the band's European tour:
"March 18, 2007: Right now we are in Germany touring for our latest album 'Dante XXI' with a new drummer named Jean Dollabella [who] is doing an awesome job. We are playing with a lot of passion and motivation, the set list is flowing trough the history of SEPULTURA, passing every phase of our carrer. New songs are going great too, many fans knowing all the lyrics….
"I love Europe. It was the first plance on earth that really embraced SEPULTURA music in a big way. Many beautiful sites and a lot of history.
"I came to europe first time in 1982 to visit some relatives with my mom and grandma. I went to Germany, Austria and Slovenia (at the time Yugoslavia). Then I came back with SEPULTURA for our first tour in 1989. We went everywhere, no crew, no manager, just us and metal!!!! It was great; after that tour nobody was the same anymore… We learned a lot, not only on stage but also as people. We met friends that we still see today on tour….
"We just got an gold album for 'Dante XXI' in Cyprus!! It's the first award we have since the 'Roots' days… Awesome… Thanks, Cyprus. See you soon on stage!!!
"George Bush just visited Brazil and other countries in South America… [It] is amazing to see what he represents… riots, confusion, anger, police brutality, disagreements, violence… What kind of a mark a politician like him will leave in history?? What his visit really wanted to achieve??
"Pan-American games will start in Rio De Janeiro in july, everybody in Brazil is excited and proud to host this event… Too bad many things still to be done and I feel some of the improvements made to the games won't stay to the city… is bad organized and is totally overbudget…. Fucking politicians!!!! I hope for a great event with a lot of medals to Brazil!!"
"March 19, 2007: Today we received a visit from the group J.B.O. from Germany. This group recorded a version of 'Roots Bloody Roots' with classical vocals. It's credited on their album as: 'SEPULTURA with Pavarotti'… It's really funny and well done. We will performing the song live, both bands together at the stage of the Earthshaker Fest in Germany on July 19th. It will be the first time both bands will perform together this version. We also will do a J.B.O. song and some other cover. Today they came to Munich to arrange all the details for the jam…
"The genaral feeling about the present situation and future of Germany is very positive among everybody, much lighter than last year. Everybody points the soccer world cup last year was a big push of new energy to all Germans…. The power of futebol (soccer)!!!!
"March 21, 2007: We are still touring and rockin' Europe with a lot energy. The shows are going really good and it's fucking great to see people singing the new songs with us. Yesterday we played Planet Music in Vienna, Austria. That place used to be called Rock House and it was the first place SEPULTURA played outside Brazil in October 1989, opening for SODOM. It was a great feeling to be back, nothing really changed and the show was amazing…. Danke österreich!!!!
"The Pope will make a visist to Brazil soon and many events and homages are being planned. One of them was a special presentation to the Pope by Sandy, one of the most famous singers in brazil, but the Pope vetoed the performance because Sandy made campaigns to use preservatives to avoid AIDS and undesireble pregnancy… it's outrageous that the church, in 2007 still thinks this way….holy ignorance!!!!"
SEPULTURA recently finished filming the second video from their "Dante XXI" album, for the song "Ostia". The clip was shot on March 3 at a studio in São Paulo prior to the band's departure for their European tour. During the week, the video crew and the main actor shot the outdoor scenes in downtown São Paulo. The script, which adapts the story from the book "The Divine Comedy" to the modern days, was directed by Geraldo Moraes.

SEPULTURA completed its first North American tour in nearly four years in December. Support at the shows came from SWORN ENEMY, DIECAST and SUICIDE SILENCE. The trek marked the band's debut U.S. appearance with their new drummer, Jean Dolabella (ex-UDORA),who replaced founding member Igor Cavalera in June.
